The Project

I recently had the pleasure of handling the cinematography for another exclusive segment on MEGA Channel’s hit weekend show, “Xamogela kai Pali,” hosted by Sissy Christidou. This Foivos Delivorias interview gave us the chance to sit down with one of Greece’s most esteemed and beloved singer-songwriters. Known for his incredible storytelling and poetic lyrics, we wanted the visual language of this segment to feel just as intimate, authentic, and grounded as his music.

Setting the Scene for the Foivos Delivorias Interview

Instead of a sterile television studio, we brought the cameras directly into his personal space. This Foivos Delivorias interview was filmed inside his beautifully cozy home, surrounded by his personal books, plants, and art pieces—including a framed Florida Project movie poster that added a great pop of color to the background. This lived-in environment instantly put everyone at ease and provided a visually rich backdrop that perfectly matched his artistic persona.

Behind the Lens: Cinematography in a Residential Space

Shooting a broadcast-quality television segment inside a real home requires a much lighter footprint than a standard studio setup. My goal as the director/cinematographer was to make the technical gear feel invisible, allowing the natural warmth of the living room to dictate the mood.

Rather than overpowering the space with heavy film lights, I leaned into the beautiful natural window light. I supplemented this solely with soft, diffused continuous fixtures to wrap the subjects gently. This kept the authentic, cozy aesthetic completely intact while ensuring the lighting met strict national broadcast standards.

To capture the relaxed dynamic between Foivos and the interviewer, I established the scene with a wide, comfortable two-shot. For his close-ups, I utilized a shallow depth of field to gently blur his personal artifacts in the background—like the vintage lamp and framed artwork. This technique ensures the viewer’s focus remains entirely locked onto his expressive storytelling. Finally, to combat the natural acoustic bounce of a residential room with hardwood floors, I utilized hidden, high-quality lavalier microphones to capture crisp, isolated dialogue.
